St. Elizabeth Ann Seton – Master Plan
This new parish in the Diocese of Fresno was established in 2008. In 2009 Dekker/Perich/Sabatini was hired to develop a master plan for the entire campus which includes a future 1500 seat church, fellowship hall with full-size commercial kitchen, administrative offices, and a K-8 school. Two goals of the master plan were to locate the new church so as to have a Catholic presence in the City and to place parishioners at the center of the process.
The new church is placed at the corner of the two main streets with the Reservation Chapel oriented towards the intersection so as to emphasize a Catholic presence. The large central plaza physically acknowledges the goal of placing parishioners at the center. This active “back-yard” for the parish will connect church, school, staff and fellowship and provide the setting for a host of parish activities. With the abundant use of trees, seating and water features, the plaza will become the faith community’s primary gathering place. The parish is committed to following sustainable and xeriscape design principles for future development.
