To meet new State of Texas graduation requirements for four years of science, Canyon Independent School District found themselves short of classroom and lab space for freshmen students. Canyon ISD additionally saw an opportunity to connect all four existing classroom wings, eliminating the need for students to go outside to change classes.

D/P/S was able to design a solution to accomplish these tasks as well as give the school a new look as seen from Interstate 27. Several techniques utilized made use of the addition to assist in hiding the existing roof top mechanical units
and in disguising the fire service lane as a large sidewalk.
