Adaptive-Reuse
Multi-Family Housing | Commercial
Adaptive re-use is the strategic repositioning of buildings for uses other than those originally intended. Redeveloping older buildings closer to urban cores is a responsible way to build. As we become increasingly sensitive to the financial and green benefits of this approach, these projects will become even more prevalent than they are today. At Dekker/Perich/Sabatini we understand the role adaptive reuse can play in urban renewal and the reduction of sprawl.
D/P/S has completed a number of successful projects to assist our clients in repositioning existing properties into new uses to meet the current market demand. These include apartment properties that have been renovated, repositioned commercial properties, infill mixed use projects and rehabilitated historic properties. Many of these properties benefit from the use of tax credits, but all of them benefit by providing greater value to our client through re-positioning properties into higher and better uses and by creating new uses and activities in existing inactivated properties. This is a fundamental goal of sustainable design as it reduces carbon emissions from vehicle travel.
