UNM Health Sciences Center Master Plan 2010

UNMHSC’s mission is to create a unique, world-class academic health complex for education, research, patient care and community outreach.

The UNMHSC Master Plan 2010 creates a long term vision and development strategy for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (located north of the UNM Central Campus). This master plan establishes a balance between the development demands of UNMHSC clinical, research and educational missions and the existing natural environment. It looks to improve patient and student convenience and provide greater efficiency for staff.  Finally, it begins to define how the UNMHSC Campus will contribute to the overriding goal of the Overall UNM Master Plan Update 2009 in creating  a “Live, Learn, Work, Play” environment.

The concept of the UNMHSC Master Plan 2010 serves the mission of UNMHSC through the following primary strategies:

•    Increasing building density
•    Mixing uses
•    Organizing a pedestrian-first orientation
•    Forming strategic open spaces
•    Developing logical project phasing
•    Analyzing the economic feasibility of campus growth rates
•    Defining sustainable planning directives

This plan is designed around providing all New Mexicans access to the highest quality patient care experience, the master plan strives to develop an inclusive, multi-cultural environment focused on health and well being.
